New Zealand Surfing - - Between Sets -

Matt Kaye was out surfing at Blacks Reef in Mahia and had only had one nice wave under his belt when he paddled for the next wave, a late take off, and didn’t make the drop, felt a hit to the foot yet paddled back out, only to think “man that hurts.” He had a look and realising the severity of the injury made his way in and headed down to Wairoa Hospital where he spent two hours having internal and external stitches! The doctor was the one who said he should submit the gash into NZ Surf Mag, even pulling back the flap so he could get a meatier shot.
