Master your makeup by flirting with some forever- classic shades

MAUVE MOMENTS

Renowned Kiwi makeup artist Lisa Matson created this look using a colour palette that included a range of plum-based shades in different intensities and finishes, and which gave a pretty pop to the lips. “Plums, mauves and purples are considered universal colours as they tend to suit all skin tones, hair shades and eye hues – but especially blue and green,” says Lisa. “They’re great colours to wear if you want your eyes to be the focal point of your makeup, and if your bouquet and bridesmaid dresses are in hues of pink, purple, blue or cool green.” Lisa loves these shades for all seasons, but says they really shine in winter.

SMOKE AND MIRRORS

There are two tricks to achieving a soft, smoky eye, and you need both to create the look successfully. The first trick is to apply the darkest shadow colour around the outer corners and to mid- eye only and complement with lighter shades towards the inner corner. Then, you need to blend the shades perfectly, leaving no harsh edges. Says Lisa, “A smoky eye can be created with an array of colours to suit every bride and wedding colour story, and while using black is most common, smoky shades can also be created with grey, chocolate or navy eyeshadow colours.”
