IN BLOOM

New Zealand Weddings - - PLANNING -

Dunedin florist Jolene Wilkinson of Estelle Flowers (estelleflowers.co.nz) on making the most of what’s in bloom in the South… “My wedding season favourites include peonies, rhododendrons, black magic roses, hydrangeas, dahlias and scabiosa – all are grown locally and love the southern climate. Otago has the ideal climate for peonies, and this coincides perfectly with the beginning of the busy summer wedding season. I love dark red charm peonies when combined with locally grown black magic roses and some textured foliage. It’s a really moody and gorgeous look.

Rhododendrons flower in Dunedin at the start of the peony season so this is one of our favourite floral combinations with trails of jasmine vine, fresh green viburnum snowball and a few roses.”
