Christchurch makeup artist Chrystal O’Brien (chrystalobrien.co.nz) gives us the inside word on long-lasting makeup come rain, hail or shine. KISS AND MAKE- UP

New Zealand Weddings - - PLANNING -

“The South Island can be scorching hot during the day and bitterly cold at night, so you want your makeup to withstand the elements. Start by prepping the skin with a hydrating spray, followed by a cream that will boost dull skin and give a luminous look. Then, set the foundation with a powder to help it stay in place. Waterproof mascara is a girl’s best friend on her wedding day; it prevents smudging around the eyes especially when those tears come! I also use a long-wearing smudgeproof eyeliner, finishing off with a spritz of setting spray; it keeps makeup firmly in place and helps to reduce shine.”
