A ROLE FOR YOU?

The Duchess of Cambridge needs a new right-hand woman or man

- Vivienne Archer

Are you looking for a new job? Can you handle complex itineraries and plans, enjoy travelling and, oh yes, would like Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge as a boss? Well, you could be in luck.

Kate’s private secretary and right-hand woman, Rebecca Deacon (34), has resigned and will leave Kensington Palace later this year. She has just become engaged and will marry later this month.

“After a decade of service to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, Rebecca Deacon will be stepping down as private secretary,” a palace official confirmed.

“Their Royal Highnesses are incredibly grateful for all the hard work and support Rebecca has provided over the past 10 years, and wish her well in the next phase of her career.”

Rebecca has been spotted standing behind the duchess on numerous royal excursions, often carrying excess flowers and soft toys, but her official duties include everything from briefing Kate (35) on who she’s meeting to organising programmes and schedules.

Palace insiders insist the job isn’t as glamorous as it sounds – long hours, high stress and, of course, the pressure of having to work for one of the world’s most beautiful women.

The remuneration will no doubt be decent however, with the average salary for staff employed in the royal households sitting at $78,480 in 2013. And, of course, there’s the perks. We can’t help but wonder what happens to the duchess’ couture cast-offs!

If you’re keen to be Kate’s new sidekick, it might be worth brushing up on how to curtsey as well as your knowledge of procedure, etiquette and the royal family tree, which trust us, is rather sprawling.
