Out of the black

Af ter reading the From the Archives stor y “Back in black ” (06.11.17), yes, how things change over such a short time. New Zealand women have gone from seldom wearing black 50 years ago to everyone wearing black ever y day! It has now become our uniform – if you look at women in the street, supermarket or anywhere, you will see a majorit y wearing a sea of black, especially in the colder months. Our top spor t s teams wear black. Even in retail stores, black tends to be the standard uniform colour for workers. We look like a country in mourning! I look forward to seeing more colour in the summer months to come. J Hoyle, Napier
