New Zealand Woman’s Weekly - - COVER STORY -

Richard Gere is not afraid to show he’s on cloud nine after marrying Alejandra Silva (35). The couple, who met in 2014 when Richard (68) stayed at her family’s hotel in Positano, wed in an Indianinspired ceremony in New York.

“I’m the happiest man in the universe,” says Richard. “How could I not be? I’m married to a beautiful woman who is smart, sensitive, committed to helping people, who’s fun, patient, who knows how to forgive, who’s a great cook – and who makes the best salads in the world!

“Alejandra meditates, she’s a vegetarian, a great mother, has the touch of an angel... and she’s also Spanish: the land of kings and queens, of Cervantes and Buñuel... You can’t get any better than that!”

Alejandra, who shares a son Albert (5) with her ex-husband, geologist Govind Friedland, has revealed that the PrettyWoman star wooed her with flowers until she agreed to go out with him. And it’s clear she made the right decision.

“I feel like the luckiest woman in the world,” she gushes. “He is the most humble, sensitive, affectionate, attentive, funny, generous man that I’ve ever met. What can I say? I’m so in love!”

The besotted couple aren’t afraid of holding back when it comes to declaring their love.
