USE YOUR TRESSES TO YOUR ADVANTAGE WITH CONTOURING

-

Hair contouring is a technique where light and dark tones are used to frame the face and soften or accentuate certain features.

A round face, for example, can be made to appear slimmer by lightening pieces at the top of the hair and the ends, leaving the sides of the face darker. Long faces can be widened by keeping the roots and underneath the hair dark to create a shadow, with light highlights around the face and weaved in front of the ears.

The highlights can be applied either free-hand with a brush or onto more defined pieces using foils. Either way, it should be subtle and natural looking.

The advantage of this sort of technique is that it’s just enough of a change to give your hair a fresh, new look, yet it’s extremely low-maintenance because of where the highlights are placed.
