The Newslink’s Movem­ber pro­mo­tion raised more than $900 for the Prostate Can­cer Foun­da­tion.

Judge and bar­ber Danny Casey as­sessed top lips, side­burns, mut­ton­chops and full-blown beards at a Movem­ber prize­giv­ing at the Thomas Green last Tues­day night.

Aaron Green won Best ‘Adult Movie’ themed mous­tache and Bryan Grif­fiths from the Gore Dis­trict Coun­cil won Best Gin­ger for his clev­erly shaped light­ning­bolt chops and mous­tache.

A bit of ef­fort with green and or­ange dye saw the boys at the Stihl Shop take out best team ef­fort, and Sergeant Greg Bal­lan­tyne beat the rest of the boys in blue to win Best Cop­per Chop­per. Lofty from Hokonui Ru­ral Trans­port won the best han­dle­bars and his work­place won the Peo­ple’s Choice Award for the money col­lected in their tin – al­though a late bid from Hogget and Jock at ri­val truck­ing firm Switzer’s Val­ley Trans­port, which is yet to be re­ceived, may see them claim the top spot.

The Supreme Award went to Brent from Gore Home Im­prove­ments.
