Biggest annual West Otago event

The West Otago A&P Show 19th November 2016 is an event not to be missed. Show Day in West Otago is the biggest annual event in our community.

It is with pleasure that I introduce myself as the 100th President of the West Otago A&P Society and invite you to attend our 103rd Show Day.

With such a long history as a committee, we have many traditions and it has been my honour to go through the chair.

We live in very special place, not only of extraordinary beauty and scenery, but with people of extraordinary character and an incredible feeling of community.

An event like this is only achieved when many people come together with a common goal, and then work extremely hard to achieve it.

I have never been on a committee quite like this one, the comradeship and support you receive is exceptional and unique.

We rely heavily on the wider community for support which comes in the form of sponsorship; without which we could not run the show.

Please show your support to our as well as having a good look around the show.

I personally can’t wait to get a closer look at an Olympic Gold Medal, an impressive achievement that all New Zealanders are proud of.

Traditionally Show Day is about animals.

Sheep, Cattle and Horses are still a main attraction and reflects the rural community that we all live in.

Farming is still the major industry in West Otago and show day is your opportunity to see your neighbour’s animals, or if you are a more urban dweller get a closer look at the stock you see daily in the paddocks around you.

Equestrian at our show is a very big section with a full day program and something happening all day in front of the grand stand.

Thank you to my committee for all your hard work and thank you to the community of West Otago for supporting us with your presence….without you we have no Show!
