NO CHARGES FOR BARCLAY
Former Clutha-Southland MP Todd Barclay won’t face charges over allegations he taped the conversations of former staff member Glenys Dickson in his Gore electorate office. The investigation was reopened after then-Prime Minister Bill English said in June he knew of the recordings, which resulted in Barclay’s resignation.
TOURIST SPENDING UP
Southland’s tourism spend is up 10 per cent for the year ended September 2017. Figures released by Venture Southland show there has been a 25 per cent increase in the number of international guest nights and the economy has benefited by $623 million from domestic and international visitors.
