Lumsden gears up for Cycle and Celebrate
The Northern Southland Community Resource Centre Charitable Trust is up to the challenge of making Cycle and Celebrate even bigger and better this Saturday.
The community day out involves a 15km bike ride on the Around the Mountains Cycle Trail from Five Rivers back to Lumsden, where there will be stalls and entertainment in the town centre.
Cyclists of all abilities can take part.
‘‘For those out for fast and competitive cycle races there is the option of times being recorded for speed, with prizes for both men and women,’’ NSCRCCT community co-ordinator Spencer-McDonald said
‘‘Those riding as a family or a group of friends for leisure can set their own pace. With an 11am start, it is expected all riders will be back to town by 1pm in time to enjoy lunch and participate in activities.’’
Cars will be available from 2pm to take people back to pick up Kim their vehicles at Five Rivers.
Spencer-McDonald said Cycle and Celebrate will be a celebration of Northern Southland and hopefully will become established as an annual event. ❚ Riders can register and more information about the day is available online at www.cycleandcelebrate.co.nz. Or phone Kim on 248 7885.
