FROM THE NEWS DESK
I’ve always thought it would be cool to be a weather forecaster.
You can be wrong most of the time and no-one questions you.
So you can understand why I was probably a little cynical when snow was predicted in the forecast for this week.
We’ve spent the last week basking in glorious sunshine, after all, and we haven’t really had a skiff of snow on the ground all winter. Snow in November? They’ve got to be wrong again! Cynicism became disbelief in the early hours of Wednesday morning when I woke up to find it was snowing really hard at home and settling. There was a good couple of inches in the back yard by 6am and the dog, who hails from up north, was experiencing his first ever snowfall. He was scared of it, of course. Forecasters have been warning of snow all winter and we braced for it and it never happened.
Let’s hope they’re back on their game and their prediction of a long warm summer is right for a change.
