Gore District mayor Tracy Hicks has gone to China to at­tend a se­ries of busi­ness in­vest­ment fo­rums. Hicks will at­tend the 2017 Chi­nese En­ter­prises Out­bound In­vest­ment Con­fer­ence in Chang­sha, or­gan­ised by the China Coun­cil for the Pro­mo­tion of In­ter­na­tional Trade. Fol­low­ing the con­fer­ence, he will at­tend in­vest­ment sum­mits/busi­ness fo­rums in Wuhan and Bei­jing. He will meet with rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the China An­i­mal Hus­bandry Group, a ma­jor stake­holder in the Mataura Val­ley Milk plant be­ing built north of Gore, dur­ing his visit.

FA­TAL CRASH

Po­lice have named the man who died fol­low­ing a crash in Clin­ton on Sun­day Novem­ber 12. He was 56-year-old David Erin Will­ing. In­quiries into the crash con­tinue.

AM­BER ALERTS

Po­lice and Face­book have launched the AM­BER Alerts sys­tem, which quickly no­ti­fies the pub­lic through as many chan­nels as pos­si­ble, when a child or young per­son is miss­ing and is at im­me­di­ate risk of harm. Peo­ple who are part of the Face­book com­mu­nity in the search area will re­ceive a no­ti­fi­ca­tion at the top of their ‘News Feed’. They can then choose to share the alert with their Face­book friends to help spread the word.
