Estate of the ART
Picture this: a state housing development shaped in a U, with a green space at its heart
and porches where parents can meet and watch their kids play. There’s free Wifi, the homes have solar power and great insulation to lower utility bills, and an
on-site career centre helps place residents into jobs with local hospitals and the like. Utopia? Not at all. It’s the brainchild of a team of urban planning and architecture students in the US. And it’s entirely do-able… otherwise they wouldn’t have won an award for it. Take note Bill English, Andrew
Little et al.
