As many as 30% of breast cancer survivors suffer from insomnia, but new research shows tai chi can help. The study, published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, found tai chi boosted sleep health for breast cancer survivors with insomnia, as well as improving depressive symptoms and fatigue. It also concluded tai chi may be just as effective in treating insomnia as cognitive behavioural therapy – which has been considered the ‘gold standard’ treatment. When evaluated three months after the 12 month-long study, both those who did tai chi and the participants who underwent cognitive behavioural therapy reported significant improvement in their symptoms –

46.7% and 43.7%, respectively.
