Turn your home into the treasure it is with jewel hues; it’s a great way to add personality

to a predominantly neutral scheme. THE ‘SPECIAL’

TREATMENT A key to this trend is a little goes a long way. To start small find an area where you’d like to add a bit of interest, perhaps a hallway table or display cabinet. Choose

a few jewel coloured pieces like that beautiful

art you’ve had your eye on, with

the ocean view drenched in aquas,

sapphire and emerald. Hunt for an interesting piece of glass in

similar colours to put with it. Or get some jewelcoloured cushions to jazz up your sofa. Linen and velvet fabrics are good options for intensity of colour.

MIX IT UP

If you want to add impact, find

an ottoman or some interesting chairs, cover them in jewel-coloured

velvets or linens and put them with your neutral sofas and white walls. Bring everything together with a large jewelcoloured rug.

FULL FLAVOUR To go bold, put these tones on walls – bedrooms and bathrooms are good choices. Resene has some beautiful rich options like Trouble (ruby), Zinzan (deep sapphire), and Atlas (deep emerald). Don’t be afraid to paint the whole room. You can lighten it up with crisp white bed linen and white paint trims, then have fun with cushions or towels. Rather than close your space in, dark colours can often help your walls to recede away. If it feels cold, use warm coloured light bulbs.
