Staying social as we age can help us live longer. A review of more than 200 studies involving more than 3.7 million adults found the risk of premature death was halved for adults with greater social connections, and that loneliness and living alone were all associated with an increased risk of early death. What’s more, the researchers found the risk of early death from those factors was equal to or greater than the risk of death associated with obesity and other major health conditions.
