Capturing summer: School holiday art classes at Lake House Arts Centre
Takapuna’s historic Lake House Arts Centre has established itself as one of New Zealand’s leading arts centres for all ages and abilities, with popular school holiday programmes and ongoing children’s and adult classes at times to suit busy lives.
Due to its popularity, the January 2011 school holiday programme for children aged five years and up has been extended to two and a half weeks.
Running from January 12 to 28 in Fred Thomas Drive, Takapuna, its theme for this year is ‘Summer in the Pacific’.
Pacifica Painting with tutor Denice Symons has classes for 8-12 and 13-16 year olds, producing paintings and collages.
Other art and craft classes feature inspirational objects and themes such as tropical plants, summer fruits, shells, tropical fish, birds of paradise, sea abstracts, mermaids, beach gear, Kiwi beach and underwater scenes, Chinese kites, Asian paper and Luau lanterns, Samoan fans, Hawaiian surfboard decorations, painted fab- ric beach bags, pinhole photography, beach picture frames and much more – using a variety of media.
Kids can stay all day and lunchtime supervision is free.
The ‘ Summer in the Pacific’ programme is now underway so you will need to book early.
