What is osteopathy?

-

Osteopathy is a way of detecting and treating damaged parts of the body such as muscles, ligaments, nerves and joints.

When the body is balanced and efficient, just like a well tuned engine, it will function with the minimum of wear and tear, leaving more energy for living.

Osteopathy can help conditions such as back pain; general joint pain, stiffness or injury; muscle aches and pains; sporting injuries; headaches and migraines; disc injury and sciatica; pins and needles and numbness from trapped nerves; golfer’s/tennis elbow; RSI and work-related stresses and strains; asthma and chest complaints; discomforts during and after pregnancy.

Babies and children also benefit from osteopathy: crying babies; colic, reflux, and wind; feeding difficulties; sleep disturbances and ear infections.

Rosedale Road Osteopaths is run by osteopath Claire Peat, with Sarah Fisher, Kate Major and William Pearson also practising at the clinic. All are registered with ACC and the New Zealand Osteopathic Council.

Claire has practised osteopathy both here and overseas. Her continuing postgraduate study has enabled her to incorporate the latest knowledge and thinking into everyday practice for the benefit of all patients. As principal practitioner Claire oversees every patient that is treated at this clinic.

Sarah graduated with a Masters with honours and has a particular interest in the treatment of infants, children and expectant mothers. Her subsequent post-graduate study has focused on the embryological and paediatric fields. Coming from a competitive sporting background she also enjoys helping people through sporting and other activity-related injuries.

Kate completed her Master’s thesis with honours, investigating injury prediction and prevention. She applies this knowledge to the treatment of athletes and their injuries. Kate has focussed her continued education on the treatment of babies, children and expectant mothers, finding this exciting and important chapter in families’ lives very fulfilling.

William has a Masters of Osteopathy from the European School of Osteopathy in England. With a background in representative tennis and rugby William enjoys working with individuals from all walks of life and has a particular interest in treating children, mothers to be; athletes and professional sports clubs.

With more than 10 years of medical receptionist experience Pauline is responsible for the day to day running of reception. Pauline looks forward to being able to assist you when you visit the clinic.
