Rosedale ram raid goods recovered

- FELICITY REID

Skateboards stolen from a North Shore store have been recovered by police on the other side of the city.

Ultimate Surf & Skate in Rosedale was ram raided in the early hours of June 3, with 17 CCTV cameras catching the act on film.

Store owner Andre Newth said more than 10 skateboards were taken in the smash and grab that also caused damage to 23 surfboards. Detective Sergeant Nick Salter said the North Shore Tactical Crime Unit executed search warrants in the Waiuku area on June 13 and arrested two adults along with a 16-year-old in relation to the incident.

The two adults were due to appear in North Shore District Court on June 19 on multiple charges including burglary, unlawful taking of seven vehicles, attempted unlawful taking of another vehicle and failing to stop for police.

Newth said, at the time of the incident, having to sort out the paperwork following the incident was a pain, and the damaged surfboards would be costly to repair. However, Newth and the store have recovered from the burglary. ’’We have new shop windows and, bar a few remedial repairs to be done, we are back to business as usual.’’

Newth added: ‘‘The service we have had from police has been outstanding.’’
