North Harbour beat Palmerston North 94-63 to win the boys Under 17 National Championship title at North Shore Events

Centre. Harbour’s James Moors was named as tournament MVP. Harbour coach Morgan Maskell has known many of his players since they were 12 years old and was delighted with their success. ‘‘We really wanted it. Two years ago we had nine of this group when we lost in the U15 final to Palmerston North so to get this win is satisfying. To get the first title together with this group that is so tight, to get it with such a dominant team (an average 40+ winning margin), it is real special.’’

HOCKEY

North Harbour finished second in the men’s competition at the National Under 18 Tournament. The final against Midlands was level at 0-0 after regulation time. In the women’s competition Harbour finished fifth.

NETBALL

Netball New Zealand has announced the team for the under-20 International Tournament in Canberra in August. Included in the New Zealand team are Sydney Fraser and Grace Kukutai (Northern Beko Netball League team) and Fa’amu Ioane, Holly Fowler and Michaela Sokolich-Beatson (SkyCity Mystics)
