Lo­cal rugby fans have plenty of rea­sons to be pos­i­tive about the state of the game in the North Har­bour re­gion. Har­bour’s re­turn to the top tier of the na­tional pro­vin­cial rugby com­pe­ti­tion is off to a fly­ing start. On the back on one of their most im­pres­sive re­sults in a decade - a 57-10 shel­lack­ing of Auck­land in this year’s Bat­tle of the Bridge Har­bour can make it four wins from four games when they face Coun­ties Manukau tonight.

Also, this week in Palmer­ston North some as­pir­ing Har­bour play­ers are tak­ing the field in the pres­ti­gious New Zealand School Top 4 play-offs. Ran­gi­toto

Col­lege’s first XV se­cured the Blues re­gion co-ed spot in the play-offs when they de­feated Auck­land co-ed cham­pion Aorere Col­lege. Ran­gi­toto now be­come the sec­ond North Har­bour school to ap­pear in the Top 4 fi­nals. Ran­gi­toto will play Field­ing High School from the Hur­ri­canes re­gion on Fri­day with a fi­nal/ play-off on Sun­day.
