Local rugby fans have plenty of reasons to be positive about the state of the game in the North Harbour region. Harbour’s return to the top tier of the national provincial rugby competition is off to a flying start. On the back on one of their most impressive results in a decade - a 57-10 shellacking of Auckland in this year’s Battle of the Bridge Harbour can make it four wins from four games when they face Counties Manukau tonight.
Also, this week in Palmerston North some aspiring Harbour players are taking the field in the prestigious New Zealand School Top 4 play-offs. Rangitoto
College’s first XV secured the Blues region co-ed spot in the play-offs when they defeated Auckland co-ed champion Aorere College. Rangitoto now become the second North Harbour school to appear in the Top 4 finals. Rangitoto will play Fielding High School from the Hurricanes region on Friday with a final/ play-off on Sunday.
