Ups and downs of life

North Taranaki Midweek - - YOUR LOCAL NEWS - KATH BROWN OPINION

THUMBS UP

TO: The North Taranaki Sports complex in Waitara. This is a testament to hard work and belief in Waitara.

TO: Coffee carts on the walkway. It’s civilised. More stalls would be welcome. By me, anyway.

TO: Some media realising that Jacinda is not the second coming. Oh, that’s right. They haven’t. Concentrate on how she does her job, not what she wears to work.

THUMBS DOWN

TO: The teachers unions getting their own way with this government on charter schools. Forget that parents and students have been thriving with this system. Those teachers who object are the ones who let thousands of children down.

TO: Lack of shade at Puke Ariki Landing for council-run events. Where is health and safety when you want them?

TO: Ending pre-paid cards for long-term parking at the airport. It is becoming increasingly obvious just who is going to pay for this new, over-the-top, superdooper, ‘tourist-attracting’ airport. Let’s pray that Jetstar stays viable.
