Coun­cil back open from scare

It is busi­ness as usual at all Waikato Dis­trict Coun­cil of­fices and li­braries this week. All sites were closed on Fri­day fol­low­ing a mes­sage from a caller to visit a coun­cil site with harm­ful in­tent against staff.

‘‘We take any threat to our staff se­ri­ously and place their safety first.

‘‘The threat was not spe­cific to a par­tic­u­lar of­fice, li­brary or coun­cil-op­er­ated site there­fore for the safety of all our peo­ple and of the pub­lic we closed all sites for the day,’’ said chief ex­ec­u­tive, Gavin Ion.
