Nominees revealed for DHB
Nominations for the triennial Waikato District Health Board have been announced with some stiff competition - 21 candidates contesting seven positions.
Each board must have at least two Maori members, whom the Minister of Health will appoint if they are not elected.
Four members, including the chair, are appointed by the Minister, the remaining seven members are elected by those registered to vote in the Waikato district.
Nominees include incumbent members Crystal Beavis, Clyde Wade, Pippa Mahood, Andrew Buckley, Martin Gallagher and deputy chair Sally Christie.
The rest of the nominees hoping to secure a position are Rangipipi Bennett, Javed Chaudhry, Robert Curtis, Bernadette Doube, Mary Anne Gill, Cathy Holland, Dave Macpherson, Tipa Mahuta, Barry Quayle, Macushla Rielly-Obiakor, Danny Sebastian, Sally Sleigh, Jenni Vernon and Norm Barker.
