Nom­i­nees re­vealed for DHB

Nom­i­na­tions for the tri­en­nial Waikato Dis­trict Health Board have been an­nounced with some stiff com­pe­ti­tion - 21 can­di­dates con­test­ing seven po­si­tions.

Each board must have at least two Maori mem­bers, whom the Min­is­ter of Health will ap­point if they are not elected.

Four mem­bers, in­clud­ing the chair, are ap­pointed by the Min­is­ter, the re­main­ing seven mem­bers are elected by those reg­is­tered to vote in the Waikato dis­trict.

Nom­i­nees in­clude in­cum­bent mem­bers Crys­tal Beavis, Clyde Wade, Pippa Ma­hood, An­drew Buck­ley, Martin Gal­lagher and deputy chair Sally Christie.

The rest of the nom­i­nees hop­ing to se­cure a po­si­tion are Rangip­ipi Ben­nett, Javed Chaudhry, Robert Cur­tis, Ber­nadette Doube, Mary Anne Gill, Cathy Hol­land, Dave Macpher­son, Tipa Mahuta, Barry Quayle, Ma­cushla Rielly-Obi­akor, Danny Se­bas­tian, Sally Sleigh, Jenni Ver­non and Norm Barker.
