FROM THE EDITOR
As Te Ahua reports on P4, a small North Waikato town is punching above its weight in its quest to become the district’s new tourist stop.
Mercer wants to be on the tourism map and a determined bunch of intrepid locals are doing their bit to make the village a goto place for travellers heading to Hamilton or Auckland.
They reckon it’s the perfect location, and I agree.
There’s the mighty Waikato River lapping at its doorstep, boutique wineries and stunning scenery in its backyard, and highoctane and high adrenaline attractions such as sky-diving and Hampton Downs motorsport park tempting adventure travellers to make the pit stop in Waikato’s north.
Hat’s off to the local businesses encouraging tourism growth in Mercer. Their forward-thinking needs to be applauded - and supported. Next time you’re passing through, be sure to make the stop to see what this exciting pocket of the North Waikato has to offer.
