Rawene-born Godfrey Rudolph has been announced as the first ever Green Party candidate for Te Tai Tokerau. Rudolph was raised in Pakanae and attended

Opononi Area School then Hato Petera Maori Boys College. He spent several years in the navy and now works in Auckland as a secondary school teacher of te reo Maori. ‘‘I am standing in the Taitokerau seat because I believe our people in Taitokerau are hurting, and that hurts me. I want to give them hope,’’ he says.
