Our young people are amazing.

From Moerewa teen Tasha Wihongi who won silver in the world youth champs for Thai boxing, to Whangarei sisters Savannah and Chelsea Bodman who nailed the national jiu-jitsu champs.

Then there are Kawakawa teens Tukotahi and Hailey Mareikura-Edmonds who just returned from the World Hip Hop Dancing Championships. But it’s not only sport and dance where Northland youth shine.

Recently I had the pleasure of perusing and photographing business projects at the Lions Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme Northland Trade Fair.

Twenty six high school teams from Awanui to Maungaturoto promoted their companies at the local market. They were all so innovative and well-thought out; from surveillance solutions, to windowsill herb gardens, and natural beauty products.

The overall winners will be announced in October and we wish them all the best. Please keep emailing us your success stories!
