NC shooters on target in Nth vs Sth

The North vs South Smallbore rifle shooting match had 126 shooters line up at the Rangiora Showground­s last weekend. After two days of tight competitio­n the Islands had two wins apiece, with the South taking the honours in the junior and women’s matches. North Canterbury supplied eight shooters to South Island teams, as well as Amelia Hughson, who is now based in Dunedin. The SI juniors trumped the north featuring Rangiora’s Mathew Little (389.22) and Culverden’s Amy McIlraith (378.13), while Hughson (396.25), West Eyreton’s Tania Boerlage (393.16) and Culverden’s Sarah Black (388.14) helped the SI women to a win. Amberley’s Connan Griffin (397.21), Hughson (397.23), Sarah Black (396.23), Robert Dalzell (391.16), Adrian Black (390.20), Tania Boerlage (388.18) shot for the SI open. Dalzell (393.26) also shot for the SI Veterans along with Peter Boerlage (384.15). After the inter-Island matches, New Zealand teams were selected for a postal shoot against Great Britain with Little (Juniors), Boerlage (Womens), Sarah Black (womens/ open), Griffin (open), Dalzell (vets) and Hughson (womens/open) all shooting for New Zealand.
