WASTE MANAGEMENT TO BE REASSESSED

The Council’s Waste Management and Minimisation Plan is to be reviewed this year in the hope of diverting waste from landfill. The plan will be out for consultation once it has been reviewed and a new draft document prepared. The outcomes of the consultation will then be fed into upcoming budgets, and put out for final consultation in early 2018. The Waimakariri Council opted to stick with the current system of user-pays bags for collection, after 70 per cent of responses were negative to a proposal for a 3-bin system last year.
