Take a new look at the city’s public art with SCAPE
New Regent Street, Re:Start, High Street and the Margaret Mahy Family Playground.
There will also be further development of the Scape Public Art Walkway with guided modular walks providing options to explore, broadly spanning three main cluster areas: The West End, New Regent Street Precinct and High Street.
The completion of Antony Gormley’s second Stay sculpture will launch the 2016 Season, alongside a public art exhibition, Presence, with exhibits from local and national artists curated and selected by Heather Galbraith.
These colourful and engaging sculptures will be on display during the annual season and are expected to draw large crowds.
‘‘Creativity will strengthen our re-emerging city,’’ said Scape Public Art director Deborah McCormick.
The opening weekend kicks off this Saturday at 10am at Margaret Mahy Playground for a free family event, which then heads to Re:Start mall for the Re:activate opening, then to the Arts Centre.
Over the past 18 years Scape has become the largest producer of new contemporary artwork in New Zealand.
