CALDWELL’S CONTRIBUTION

-

From time to time comments are made about the contribution that new arrivals in our community make. The recent passing of Alf Caldwell who was only with us for a short period over 10 years brings this to mind.

Shortly after his arrival in Rangiora, Alf joined the Rangiora Advisory Board and became an advocate for the Milton Avenue dog park. Alf produce a compelling and entertaining Powerpoint presentation which encouraged the council to proceed with this facility.

Following on from this, Alf joined the Rangiora Community Watch and he not only patrolled at night but wrote several very successful funding applications for the group. Having stood down from this group due to ill health he then started driving the mini bus conveying the senior citizens on shopping trips.

In the short time Alf was with us he certainly demonstrated a strong commitment to his new Rangiora community. He will be missed by many.
