Six North Can­ter­bury teams at­tended the South Is­land Sec­ondary Schools’ net­ball tour­na­ment in Christchurch.

In A grade, Ran­giora HS made the top 16 af­ter beat­ing Lin­coln and Ver­don in pool play, but a string of five losses had them fin­ish 16th.

Af­ter gain­ing pro­mo­tion to be back in to A grade for the first time in 27 years, Ka­iapoi HS fin­ished 25th out of the 32 teams to en­sure they are back in the top grade next year.

Af­ter al­most tip­ping up Waitaki (31-32), KHS beat Lin­coln in round two to avoid the bot­tom four be­fore beat­ing Mt As­pir­ing and Avon­side Girls’.

In C grade, Ox­ford AS lost the final against Fiord­land Col­lege 18-24 but earned pro­mo­tion to B grade next year.

Ni­cole White and Rachel Kis­sack made the tour­na­ment team.

Amuri Area School were fourth while Che­viot Area School, in their first trip to the tour­na­ment in a long time, were sev­enth with Y9 player Zoey Cuff recog­nised as a tal­ented player.

Hu­runui Col­lege were 10th.
