Six North Canterbury teams attended the South Island Secondary Schools’ netball tournament in Christchurch.
In A grade, Rangiora HS made the top 16 after beating Lincoln and Verdon in pool play, but a string of five losses had them finish 16th.
After gaining promotion to be back in to A grade for the first time in 27 years, Kaiapoi HS finished 25th out of the 32 teams to ensure they are back in the top grade next year.
After almost tipping up Waitaki (31-32), KHS beat Lincoln in round two to avoid the bottom four before beating Mt Aspiring and Avonside Girls’.
In C grade, Oxford AS lost the final against Fiordland College 18-24 but earned promotion to B grade next year.
Nicole White and Rachel Kissack made the tournament team.
Amuri Area School were fourth while Cheviot Area School, in their first trip to the tournament in a long time, were seventh with Y9 player Zoey Cuff recognised as a talented player.
Hurunui College were 10th.
