Win eludes NC Blue on countback
North Canterbury Blue went close to claiming a first win in the Canterbury Country Combined division 1 interclub tennis competition, but lost on countback against Prebbleton-Lincoln on Saturday.
The two sides won eight games each on the Prebbleton courts but on a countback on games the hosts were up 101-85 to take the win.
North Canterbury White were at home to top-of-the-table Kirwee Gold in Woodend and went down 5-11 after a dominant display from the Kirwee Gold women.
In North Canterbury Senior B, Southbrook teams continued to dominate.
Southbrook Blue maintained their status at the top of the table with a 5-3 win over Fernside.
Southbrook Gold are hot on their heels in second after beating Kaiapoi 8-0. Rangiora had the bye.
In presidents 1, Kaiapoi had a 9-0 win over Glenmark North to extend their lead at the top of the ladder.
Amberley beat Ashley 9-0 to have the two sides draw level in second place overall.
It’s a lot closer in presidents 2, with Cust’s 9-0 win over Woodend allowing them to keep the lead.
Kaiapoi’s Layla Bailey-McDowell was controversially struck out in the 7th inning against Papanui
