Out with the six-pot­ter 3.0 en­gine fit­ted to the S60 Polestar sedan and V60 wagon, and in with a new more po­tent 2.0-litre four­cylin­der re­place­ment, would you be­lieve? The much smaller en­gine out­puts 13kW more (270) than its big­ger pre­de­ces­sor, though torque eases back by 30Nm to 470 in to­tal. All the same, the S60 totes 44kg less weight (24kg off the front axle) so is claimed to be 0.2sec faster (4.7s) 0-100 as a re­sult, which makes it the quick­est Volvo ever. The sedan weighs a claimed 1751kg, while the wagon is 45kg heav­ier.
