French Pass

NZ Fishing News - - Fishing Personality -

The area around French Pass can be an outstanding angling destination throughout winter, although a decent-sized boat is required.

The area is affected by strong currents when the tide is running, and deep reefs mean a good variety of fish species is available throughout the cooler months – including snapper, kingfish, large trevally and big blue cod – something will always be feeding.

For those keen on diving, the water clears up over the winter months because plankton blooms are not as prolific. The spear-fishing can be world class.
