El­der­flower gin and tonic.

Surely a well-de­served re­ward for gar­den­ers af­ter a hard day's work grow­ing and sow­ing

FOR EL­DER­FLOWER LIQUEUR

15-20 spray-free el­der­flower heads, washed 1 litre vodka 1½ cup gran­u­lated sugar 3-4 slices of le­mon Put all in a jar, seal and leave in a cool spot for at least a week (we have heard of some con­nois­seurs wait­ing for up to a month!). Shake the jar oc­ca­sion­ally to dis­solve sugar. Strain the liqueur and de­cant into a ster­ilised bot­tle.

FOR EL­DER­FLOWER GIN AND TONIC

60ml gin 30ml el­der­flower liqueur 1 slice of lime or le­mon tonic wa­ter Fill your glass with ice. Pour in gin and el­der­flower liqueur. Squeeze in your lime or le­mon and top up with tonic wa­ter. Stir.
