Meet Mark Dunning
Mark Dunning has been appointed as Business Manager to service protected vegetable growers across the country, based out of Auckland.
Mark worked in high-tech glasshouses in Australia and the Netherlands for around eight years before joining Monsanto Australia’s open-field vegetable team 18 months ago. His experience in glasshouse construction and establishment, as well as glasshouse growing techniques, puts him on the front foot in the local market. “I know from experience that every day brings new challenges for glasshouse growers. Whether it’s labour, pests or mechanics – growers are always managing their way through new situations. “De Ruiter is able to offer growers peace of mind with quality, innovative products and expert advice.
“Glasshouse production is a technical and ultra-efficient style of growing. The best results are achieved while pushing the crop to its limit and downtime can be very expensive. These two factors mean that growers rely on being provided with the right products and correct information, at the right times. “Growers trust De Ruiter to deliver market leading tomato, cucumber, pepper and rootstock varieties; and they also expect the very best service and advice from us – that’s what I am here to deliver.” Mark said he’s looking forward to sharing his expertise with New Zealand growers and learning more about their practices. “The New Zealand glasshouse market is a mature and professional industry, with many early adopters, whether it be in variety selection and marketing or production practices. That’s exciting.
“It would be great to eventually see growth in the export market, particularly to Asia, allowing further expansion of production in New Zealand.”
