New hor­ti­cul­ture qual­i­fi­ca­tion path­way for 2018

From 2018, Pri­mary ITO will of­fer a new hor­ti­cul­ture pro­duc­tion qual­i­fi­ca­tion path­way with NZQA pro­grammes from Level 2 through to Level 6.

NZ Grower - - FUTURE FOCUS -

This year we in­tro­duced the New Zealand Cer­tifi­cate In Pri­mary In­dus­try Skills (Hor­ti­cul­ture) at Level 2 which pro­vides a gen­eral in­tro­duc­tion to the ba­sic skills re­quired within the hor­ti­cul­ture sec­tor for a new en­trant. This will form the first step in the path­way.

Fol­low­ing on will be the re­vamped New Zealand Cer­tifi­cates in Pro­duc­tion Hor­ti­cul­ture at Lev­els 3 and 4, with pro­grammes at Lev­els 3, 4 and 5 of­fer­ing strands in fruit pro­duc­tion, out­door veg­etable pro­duc­tion, in­door crop pro­duc­tion, nurs­ery pro­duc­tion and post har­vest. There is also an op­tion for ap­pren­tice­ships within hor­ti­cul­ture, with a com­pos­ite pro­gramme avail­able at Lev­els 3 and 4. In late 2018, there will be new Diploma of­fer­ings at Level 5 and 6 which will com­ple­ment our al­ready suc­cess­ful Diploma in Agribusi­ness Man­age­ment.

All of the pro­grammes fea­ture flex­i­ble con­tent tai­lored to your spe­cific work­place, with the ma­jor­ity of learn­ing and as­sess­ments on-site. The pro­grammes also ben­e­fit from the on­go­ing sup­port of our Train­ing Ad­vis­ers and in­dus­try men­tors.
