New horticulture qualification pathway for 2018
From 2018, Primary ITO will offer a new horticulture production qualification pathway with NZQA programmes from Level 2 through to Level 6.
This year we introduced the New Zealand Certificate In Primary Industry Skills (Horticulture) at Level 2 which provides a general introduction to the basic skills required within the horticulture sector for a new entrant. This will form the first step in the pathway.
Following on will be the revamped New Zealand Certificates in Production Horticulture at Levels 3 and 4, with programmes at Levels 3, 4 and 5 offering strands in fruit production, outdoor vegetable production, indoor crop production, nursery production and post harvest. There is also an option for apprenticeships within horticulture, with a composite programme available at Levels 3 and 4. In late 2018, there will be new Diploma offerings at Level 5 and 6 which will complement our already successful Diploma in Agribusiness Management.
All of the programmes feature flexible content tailored to your specific workplace, with the majority of learning and assessments on-site. The programmes also benefit from the ongoing support of our Training Advisers and industry mentors.
