Never pull Jumping a course

NZ Horse & Pony - - Masterclass -

THE LESSON ENDS with Devon jumping a little course. Sean reminds her throughout to fiddle with her fingers if she wants to get Chez back, rather than taking a pull. “If you can’t see a stride, soften to the fence and let it happen. Let him jump for you.”

The final jump of the day is this wall, and Sean says he would rather see Chez stop at the fence than run at it. Devon stays relaxed and Chez keeps a rhythm all the way to the fence, jumping it happily (above).

“He’s actually brave,” notes Sean. “You just have to trust him, trust yourself and you’ll be away.”
