CHANGING ATTITUDES

Lorraine says showing has got too serious. “It’s about appreciating that you have done all the work on your horses and getting a good performance on the day. Getting a ribbon is a thrill and a bonus on show day. Going to the shows is a privilege and proof of all your work, as well as the chance to be the best turned-out, of course!”

“My horses are my therapy and help me cope with the trials that life presents. It helps to learn to accept your life as it is, and just never give up!”

Lorraine has much admiration for showing legend, Betty Lennard of Te Aroha, who was still riding in the show ring in her 70s.
