NZ Horse & Pony - - Your Letters -

This month’s winner is Ojoe, who was nominated by Serena Jo Greenwood of Christchurch. E veryone who met Ojoe went ‘awwww!’ at first sight. Being the cheeky little Welsh mountain pony he was, he had no trouble charming carrots out of many a hand. But behind those beautiful big eyes he was secretly planning his next crime! Ojoe was a pony with spunk. Even at 27 years he was still itching to take off at a gallop around the paddock as soon as he was mounted!

However, he was a great confidencebuilder for many people over the years, including me. I went to my first show on him and he helped me win many ribbons over my time with him. Very sadly, unfortunate circumstances led me to leave the riding school that owned him. I can assure you that whenever I am asked by my riding friends these days who my favourite pony is, I still will say Ojoe!

I recently found out that Ojoe was diagnosed with cancer and had to be put down. I wanted to say thank you, Ojoe, on behalf of all who have loved him. He was truly one in a million.
