I’VE RECENTLY DISCOVERED:
I come from a long line of weavers. I’m of Maori descent and my grandmother and great-grandmother on both sides were weavers.
WEAVING IS THERAPEUTIC: I put on nice music, make a coffee or pour a glass of wine and weave away without even realising the time is passing. It’s like creating a Buddhist mandala – it makes your mind go elsewhere.
WHEN I’M OUT AND ABOUT: I find feathers and shells. They’re always different, so using them gives my weaving a bespoke look.
I USE: Nothing acrylic. I like linen, wool, jute, bamboo fabric – sometimes I use strips of material which gives a lovely jagged edge. Each one takes from eight to 12 hours.
MY WORKS LOOK GREAT: In all kinds of different rooms. But I especially love them in bedrooms, because they’ve got a cosy feel. See more at bespokeweaving.com
