If you are one of those cooks whose quick and easy reper­toire con­sists of eggs three ways and spaghetti on toast, this book is for you. Food writer Sue Quinn’s Cook Fast Eat Well demon­strates how healthy, tasty meals can be whipped up in 10 min­utes us­ing only five in­gre­di­ents. The key is well-cho­sen in­gre­di­ents, and the first two pages are ded­i­cated to stock­ing the pantry for su­per-quick cook­ing. There are five chap­ters in the book: light bites; sal­ads and soups; pasta; meat, poul­try and fish; and sweet things. I tested two recipes from each chap­ter and found most of the dishes could be com­pleted within 10 min­utes. I con­fess to en­hanc­ing one of the soups but over­all the dishes were de­li­cious. My fastest favourites? Fet­tuc­cini with Al­fredo Sauce, Roast Cap­sicum Soup and Cho­co­late Cake in a Mug. And the un­ex­pected de­light? Al­most no mess to clean up.
