NZ House & Garden - - URBAN EYE -

The signatures that shaped New Zealand are now on display in one place. Te Tiriti o Waitangi (1840), the 1835 Declaration of Independence of the United Tribes of New Zealand and the Women’s Suffrage petition of 1893 glow in temperature-controlled cases in a darkened document room. Inspired by waka huia boxes, Bernard Makoare carved stormfelled rimu from Kahurangi National Park to create it. Closed Sundays.
