Ger­man-born, Auckland-based pho­tog­ra­pher Frank Sch­were’s lat­est work, iron­i­cally named Noth­ing Lasts For­ever, en­sures that this par­tic­u­lar bou­quet of flow­ers will en­dure. In his new se­ries, bright flow­ers and bees are sym­bols of re­newal. The dark­ness, dead bees and fallen petals are sym­bols of death… and thus goes the cy­cle. Frank’s work is a com­men­tary on the im­por­tance of the en­vi­ron­ment and, in this case, draws at­ten­tion to the bees and their vi­tal role as pol­li­na­tors.
