IT’S RED HOT
“It’s loud, proud and designed to catch your attention,” says Dulux colour expert Davina Harper. Cobalt is electric, slightly lighter than navy and has a deeper punch than sky blue. “It’s such a vibrant colour, a little can go a long way.” Use it as an accent colour, with cushions, throws and vases (see how
The Block NZ judge Jason Bonham uses cobalt on our cover). If you’re up for it, consider a feature wall. Cobalt shouldn’t be reserved for the bold and eclectic, Davina says – when teamed with a very dark navy and crisp white, it creates a fresh, coastal feel. If you want a more daring look, pair it with mustard yellow or warm pink and wine red. 1 Room painted in Dulux ‘Cuticle Pink’, ‘Waimakariri River’, ‘Friends’ and ‘Carmen’, photographed by Lisa Cohen, styled by Bree Leech. 2 Tom Dixon Lid Curve Top marble and glass container $180 from ECC, ecc.co.nz. 3 FL/Y Lamp $550 from Backhouse, backhousenz.com. 4 Momento Nordic round bowl $44.99 from Stevens, stevens.co.nz. 5 BD Barcelona lounger POA from Matisse, matisse.co.nz. 6 Belgrave vessel $19.95 from Freedom, freedomfurniture.co.nz. 7 North dish $70 from BoConcept, boconcept.com. 8 Studio Mule YES wall hook in blue $40 from Alex Fulton Design Store, afdstore.co.nz. 9 B&B Italia Bay sofa POA from Matisse.
