For modern hipsters
The free-spirited San Francisco of the 60s and 70s lives on at Hotel Zeppelin, a new boutique hotel close to Union Square. But along with the groovy psychedelic wallpaper in the bathrooms, lava lamps and turntables in the bedrooms, and liberal splashes of mustard yellow and avocado green, you’ll find features modern hipsters would be proud of. There’s a steel and brick bar that was once a proper speakeasy, a high-tech gym and a “den” stocked with nostalgic arcade games and big-screen TVs. If you just can’t avoid doing a little work, at least you’ll do it in comfort with generous, well-designed workspaces. When you’re done, the cafe serves artisanal coffee and spectacular doughnuts and the artfully distressed restaurant specialises in locally sourced Californian fare.
