Q&A

NZ House & Garden - - HOMES -

The key elements in this house: The cedar that adds warmth and sits really nicely with the sea, the trees and natural landscape. The white brick is strong and stark and the copper is the icing on the cake, the fantasy bit. (Lee-Ann)

Coming home at the end of the day: Feels a bit like arriving at the bach because I can see the water and really kick back. In the weekends it’s amazingly quiet here. (Andrew)

Having fewer bathrooms is ideal: We didn’t want a whole lot of en suite bathrooms because, frankly, who likes cleaning bathrooms? (Lee-Ann)

Andrew doesn’t know this: But I know I could strip the decor back and start again to give this house a completely new look and feel. I’ll probably do it one day but certainly not just yet. (Lee-Ann)

I chose copper: I’ve always loved it and always had copper elements in my houses. Certainly not because it’s on trend: it actually wasn’t a big thing when we started designing this place four years ago. (Lee-Ann) Lee-Ann and Andrew Taylor
